tl;dr: I participated with my friend in the Ludum Dare 58 game jam, and we made an action alien-abduction game!
The jam
The theme of the jam was "Collector".
We made this game for the Ludum Dare 58 game jam in 72 hours.
We made all music, art, code, design, everything during the jam.

There are lots of interesting Earthlings out there. Gotta catch 'em all! |

You earn spacebucks for collecting the right Earthlings, which you can then use to upgrade your ship. |
Retrospective
- I did this jam with a couple of my friends--Jake and Alden.
- I've done a few jams with Alden now, but this was Jake's first jam!
- Everyone contributed a ton in this jam!
- Some of the bits I got to work on for this one were:
- A level with infinite, repeating scroll.
- A region-based Earthling-spawner system.
- A complex detection system with nuanced police chasing and flashlight behaviors.
- Lots of fun pixel art!
- We took a decent amount of time (maybe 4 hours?) brainstorming this time before we settled on this alien-zookeeper idea.
- We had a lot of other fun ideas this time (here's our brainstorming notes!).
- One of our other ideas I liked was for a game based on managing a garbage-truck collection zones with controls similar to Mini Metro.
- I also liked an idea for spinning a spider web and collecting bugs that fly by.
- We almost scoped things perfectly this time around!
- We were a tad crunched for time trying to get bugs wrapped up at the end, but really, we got most of our planned features in!
🎉 Cheers!
